There’s a storm a-coming...

Had a great walk along the lockside yesterday. The sun was out and the mist was low, creating a weird shimmer and other-worldly effect on the water. The mountains across the far side were, for the most part, obscured by clouds (unintended Pink Floyd reference, there 😀) and it just looked surreal. There was no sign of any wildlife, save a solitary grouse in the field, and a flock of geese flying overhead in a straggly V.
I met an old guy from the village, out for his daily walk, and had quite a decent chat with him. Later, on the way back, I came across a little kid and his parents. He made them stay put while he walked on about 20 yards or so. As I passed him, he called back to them:
”You’re allowed to use your guns if you see any zombies.“
i turned round and shouted back:
”I’m not a zombie!”
He laughed; I’d made someone’s day 👍
Martin Barre was back on at 9 o’clock, all electrified and not an acoustic guitar or mandolin to be seen; it’s great to see a guy in his 70s still rocking the stage like that. He’s one of the best and most underrated guitarists around, and long may it be so.
This morning, all was quiet, the sun was glorious and there was none of yesterday’s mist; but now Storm Ciara has hit. Looking at the forecast, wherever I go I’m risking 4 days of 50mph winds with gusts up to 80, so I decided my best bet is to stick it out in the hotel car park; I‘m starting to book tables and giving “the camper van in the car park” as my room number...
