I have a plan...

Bit of a late start to the blog update. I picked up the van last Friday and had to make it ready by Wednesday, while also working! I’d planned months ago to see Martin Barre, who‘s been Jethro Tull’s guitarist since the sixties. And it was in Scotland.

That's right. Scotland. My first real drive in the van was going to be Scotland. In the middle of Winter!

So what should I pack? Well I’ve no idea, so pretty much everything including a big bag of rock salt and snow shovel - cos this is Scotland in winter.

I stayed the first night on a friend’s drive near the North York Moors, so an easy start, and the next morning’s drive was glorious. The weather was perfect, scenery lush and traffic reasonable. Good start.

I‘d previously decided when I got to where the gig Is I’d camp on the loch side, but they’ve made it no overnight parking, so I asked at the hotel and negotiated free parking in return for eating and drinking 👍 Result! Off road, private property and beer - she even checked me in so if Plod comes knocking I’m legit 😀 Quiet night, even though on the roadside - it seems the van has good sound insulation.

The gig was great. Last night was an acoustic set, it’s a tiny place that only holds 100 or so. I picked up a couple of signed albums, one is a white vinyl limited edition; only 100 made. I’m back tonight when he’s doing an electric set - in his words, “same shit but louder!”

Unfortunately the photos are in reverse order but that’s the way WIX does things 😕
